We suggest that you and your intern begin with an orientation. Even though they may not be permanent employees, they’ll be spending a great deal of time in your facility; therefore, introducing him or her to co-workers and pointing out where the intern will be working will help them get acclimated.

Remember to point out such places as the bathroom, lunchroom, kitchen, supply room, copy room, meeting room, work room, and even preferable parking spaces. The level of ease you create for your intern will pay off in their capacity to be more productive. Be sure to communicate the procedure if the student is ill or the school schedule is changed, such as a snow day.
